heh heh...kinda .... long? well, you each have a paragraph....^_^
Dana: As you all know, the clouds are different in different locations. Unlike the SHORT other groups (such as middle and low), we, the high clouds are all at the higher parts of the atmosphere, reaching up to 40,000ft. Since it is so cold up here, we also aren’t really made of water droplets—but ice crystals. We’re just cool like that.
Nora: (standing on chair) You all know me, the cumulonimbus cloud, since I’m large enough to be in many layers of the atmosphere. I am a massive cloud, easily seen, and go all the way to 40,000ft, yet can start as low as 2,000 ft.
So, down at the bottom with the low clouds, I only give you rain—if you’re lucky. But up higher, where its nice and cold, I can make a thunderstorm that’ll last for hours called a supercell. Believe me, you do NOT want to be caught in one of these.
Chris (standing on desk): okay, so this is how I happened—Cool, dry air met warm, moist air and formed me, the cirrocumulus cloud. Just about 16,000-40,000ft high, I’m probably higher than you XP.
I am made of ice crystals, and am thin and wispy (no thanks to jenny craig—there just aren’t any McDonald’s up here). Usually, I’m only seen in the sky when there is lots of moisture in the atmosphere as a signal that a storm is coming soon. I’m a pretty social cloud, and usually appear with some other cloud nearby.
Gini (standing on desk): I, the cirrus cloud, am also a thin cloud. Also, I am silky and hair-like in appearance.
Like my brother, the cirrocumulus cloud, I am made of ice crystals. You may think I’m pretty similar to the cirrocumulus, but the difference is HE has acne—I have no small cloud elements like grains or ripples, while HE does. And, even is he’s more social than me, I am just as high. Living around 16,000-40,000ft high, I am one of the highest clouds in the atmosphere.
Alex: (standing on different desk) With the high speed of the atmosphere, I have the luck of being in its way. Known a “jet stream cirrus,” the wind of the Jet Stream pushes me into streaky bands. My home keeps moving—I exist wherever the Jet Stream blows strong and smoothly. Sometimes, the spacing of the strips of cloud that make me up can be used to measure the velocity of the Jet Stream.
Alina: (standing on high chair behind desk)I, the cirrostratus cloud, am kind of like a bad omen. You see me, and you should get ready for bad weather, even if I’m a thin, semi-transparent layer of cloud that can’t produce the bad weather by myself. At around 16,000 to 40,000 ft, I am high just like my brother and sister (not that kind of high—perfectly legal)
My whole family is made of ice crystals, and I am no exception. But my crystals are much smaller and more spread out, so I look transparent against the sunlight or moonlight. Instead of clocking the sunlight like other clouds, I just make a pretty halo around the sun if it shines through me.
Dana: So, the clouds up here in the higher section of the atmosphere usually have the prefix cirro- in front. They don’t make precipitation, and are made of ice crystals.
